Technique Tuesday: Landscape Card in a Box

Last month, I showed you how to make a Portrait style Card in a Box. This month’s technique is for the Landscape style of the same box.

My first sample is for Christmas and uses the Peaceful Pines stamp set, the matching Perfect Pines Framelits from the Holiday Catalogue and Merry Moments DSP from the Annual Catalogue.

As with the portrait version, the card folds flat for mailing. It will fit into a standard C6 envelope.

Flower Shop Pirouette Pizzazz Landscape Card in a Box

The following card is the one I have used for the instructions. The only difference to the one above is that it uses embossed cardstock instead of DSP on the top layers.

Flower Shop Pirouette Landscape Card in a Box

Supplies:
Thick Whisper White cardstock – 29.7cm x 10.5cm for base card
Whisper White cardstock – scraps for flowers
Pink Pirouette cardstock – 10cm x 10cm for back of card to write message, 2 pieces each 4.8cm x 3.5cm for front top of box sides, 1 piece 4.8cm x 10cm for front of box, 1 piece 6cm x 10cm for front of box behind flowers, 12.5cm x 5cm for flower supports
Pink Pirouette Designer Series Paper – 2 pieces each 4.8cm x 3.5cm for bottom of box sides, 1 piece 4.8cm x 10cm for front bottom of box
Window Sheet – scraps to attach flowers to card
Decorative Dots TIEF
Pansy Punch
Petite Petals Punch

Stamps:
Flower Shop
Petite Petals
Endless Birthday Wishes

Ink:
Melon Mambo

Instructions:

  1. Cut A4 cardstock in half – 21cm x 14.8cm.
    Card in a Box Landscape measurements
  2. Score on the dashed lines and cut on the solid lines as shown in the above diagram.
  3. Cut out the hatched piece.
  4. Add tape to the blue piece.
  5. Attach DSP layers for bottom half of box and cardstock for back of box. Fold cardstock in half and attach tape.

  6. Fold cut pieces along score lines and add layers for top of box.Landscape Figure 2
  7. Take the piece of cardstock 12.5cm x 5cm for the flower supports. Score at 1cm and 11.5cm and cut in half lengthways at 2.5cm.
  8. Fold score lines in opposite directions.Landscape Figure 3
  9. These two pieces are put into the box to attach the embellishments.Landscape Figure 4
  10. Stamp flowers on scrap cardstock, punch out with matching punches and attach embellishments directly to cross pieces or on small pieces of acetate.
