Today, I held a workshop for Melinda and some of her friends. These are the creations that they got to make and take home with them. A couple of the ladies had not made cards before, and were very impressed with their finished products. I hope you all had a great time and will continue to enjoy the wonderful world of papercrafting.
The card is made with Pacific Point, Whisper White and Glossy White cardstock, Sanded, Sincere Salutations and Sweet Stems stamp sets, Pacific Point Striped Grosgrain Ribbon, and punches – Scallop Square, Scallop Oval, Scallop Edge, Wide Oval. Crayon Resist technique was used [see earlier post for details of this technique].

This is a bookmark which fits over the edge of a page. Petterns Pack II Designer Series Paper was used. One side for the base and the other side of the paper for the top layer which was stamped with Hello Again in Basic Black.

What happened to January?? I have had a few card making sessions, but somehow lost track of time and forgot to upload my creations. So, today I will have a few posts to showcase my latest.
This first one uses the crayon resist technique. I stamped Sweet Stems with Stazon Jet Black ink onto glossy cardstock. Using a crayon, [any colour will do], I outlined the images. These were then sponged with Rose Red, and punched out with the Scallop Square punch, and layered with Certainly Celery cardstock on a Whisper White card. A piece of Rose Red double stitched grosgrain ribbon was attached to the lower half of the card. I then used the Wide Oval Punch with a piece of Certainly Celery, and the Scallop Oval Punch with a piece of Whisper White. The scallop oval was stamped with a sentiment from Sincere Salutations in Basic Black, and sponged with Rose Red. The bottom of the card was punched with the Scallop Edge Punch. To accent the scalloped edge, I then put a strip of Certainly Celery on the bottom of the inside of the card.

The next card uses Apricot Appeal as the base which has been stamped in Versamark with Sprinkles. A a strip of Bravo Burgundy was the layered down the centre of the card. Sage Shadow was used on the Bravo Burgundy, then layered with Whisper White which was stamped with Window Dressing in Stazon Jet Black and then water coloured. The flowers, bird and little girl were cut out [very tricky as they were so small], and layered on the window.

This one was made by my niece Kimberly. I was so impressed with her design that I had to show it off. Pacific Point cut to a gatefold card was stamped in Versamark with a background stamp. A piece of Basic Black was layered with a piece of Whisper White, ticket cornered and stamped with Fifth Avenue Floral using Pacific Point ink. The sentiment is also from Fifth Avenue Floral, stamped in Basic Black on Whisper White and punched out with the Wide Oval punch.

Enjoy

Happy New Year to you all. I hope that 2010 brings you all that you wish for.
I decided to start the year with some colour challenges from sites I have checked out recently. That is, using colours that I would not normally put together.
The first one uses Apricot Appeal, Rose Red, and Sage Shadow cardstock and inks. I used Very Vanilla for the neutral and Inspired by Nature for the stamps.

The second one uses Barely Banana, Really Rust, and Basic Gray cardstock and inks. For the neutral, I used Whisper White, and the stamp set is Cheep Talk.

I am still not sure about the Cheep Talk card, but it is growing on me.
Until next time.

I hope you have all enjoyed a peaceful Christmas with your families and are ready to face the New Year with lots of inspiration and enthusiasm.
I don’t have any creations to show you today. Instead as I have had some requests on how to make the Trifold Angle Card, I thought I would provide my method for making this stunning card. I have provided both Imperial and Metric versions depending on the size of your cardstock. In either case, you will be able to get 2 cards from each piece of cardstock.

Measure, cut and score according to the above diagram [click here to download measurements in pdf format]. I then cut a piece of white or vanilla to the same size, and cut it out into 3 pieces to leave a small border around the edges of the main card [usually about 5mm or 3/16"]. I then decorate the front [first] and third pieces and leave the second fairly plain so allowing you room to write. Sometimes, I will also cut a piece of the white or vanilla [see Trifold Angle Elegant 5th Avenue] or Designer Series Paper [see Trifold Angle Pomegranate Blossoms] for the ‘back’ of the front piece - in my birthday gallery for examples.
Please leave me a comment if you would like further information.
Enjoy
